Several white helium balloons installed in a high-traffic space, containing small pieces of paper with hand-written messages the initial messages are written by the artist, but then over the course of the exhibition are replaced with new balloons containing phrases from the participants/the viewers.
The viewer is invited to pop a balloon in the space to retrieve a message, and to then leave messages on paper for the artist or gallery assistant to put into new balloons. The remnants are left on the floor, and the viewer is welcome to take the message or leave it. Popping the balloon becomes a childlike experience, with an element of chaos; the use of text is referential to Twitter, RSS feeds, fortune cookies, and the Fluxus Movement. Using terms of endearment, humor, and sarcasm I hope to create a dialogue with the audience, speaking to the triumphs and tribulations of the region.
